Their website advertises hand-made streling silver chalices. Further investigation shows that they merely resell off the shelf catalogue items from other companies with a very high mark up. here are two examples:

TET model 600- sells for $5,500

It is the exact same one, even the model number and picture, from ovunqueproteggimi.com, who has it for 3.820Euro ($4,300), almost a 30% mark up!!

TET model 617 which they sell for $3,793

Is avalilable at russoraffaele.it for 2.106Euro ($2,400), that is a whopping 58% mark up!!!!

Furthermore, they advertise this chalice as hand made sterling silver, when the manufacturer states that ONLY THE CUP is silver, the chalice itself is made of CAST BRASS, which is nither SILVER NOR HAND MADE.

Sadly, it seems that many older priests or sister who are not internet saavy enough to find this out will fall for this scam.

SHAME ON YOU!

Magnificent Vestment Just in time for Christmas

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have followed Traditional Ecclesiastical Tailoring for several years. In my new assignment, there was no appropriate chasuble for Christmas or Easter. I corresponded with Mr. Navarette, to see if there was still time to order a new chasuble for Christmas. The beauty and excellent workmanship of the chasuble, veil, burse, stole and maniple are outstanding - truly flawless. The parishioners love when this new solemn set is used. One person said to me, "At last, something worthy of God!" What more can one say? Bravo, Juan! Fr. Jordan Kelly, OP

When I heard we were getting a Christmas gift for someone from this company I was really apprehensive because of its very poor history with customer service. However, a seminarian I know assured me everything would fine since he knew Mr. Navarette personally. Since I trusted him, I went ahead and paid for the item. The item was never delivered and apparently, all attempts to contact Mr. Navarette have gone unanswered. He still has not learned his lesson from past issues he’s had with his business and customers. AVOID!!!!!

I ordered a Saturno hat in July, 2018, as a gift for a priest from this guy. After 6 weeks, I sent him a message asking for an estimate on when the hat could be expected. No response. After a few more tries with no response, I asked my bank for a dispute form for the charge and informed this guy I was doing so. He responded to this and assured me the hat would be delivered in two weeks. I told him that if it did not show up I would go forward with the dispute. No response. No hat. Filed the dispute and got my money back on my card. Whether he is a fraud or incompetent, do not order from this guy.

Same Items from ACTUAL manufacturers

Tradition Ecclesiastical Tailoring - Same Items from ACTUAL manufacturers
Tradition Ecclesiastical Tailoring - Same Items from ACTUAL manufacturers - Image 2

I hope all visitors to Tradition Ecclesiastical Tailoring realize that they can get almost all of the items on TET's website from the ACTUAL manufacturers' websites and typically for much less. You can even find that the exact photos of items (minus the cleverly added logo by TET to make you think that they are the makers of said items) of most of the items present on the various manufacturers' websites.

Albs, surplices, fascia, fiochi fascia, cassocks, zuccehtto, birettas, ferriaolones, greca, satruno, satrurno cords, etc. - almost every item comes from another company. TET is just a "middle man company". Let's assume that they have an legitimate business relationship with all of these manufacturers.

Most agree to sell their goods to vendors at lower than retail price. TET then takes your order on an item (with a considerable mark-up on the merchandise), orders the item from the actual manufacturer's website, and pockets the extra money. Need proof? Check out the following websites and you will find the items: Surplice #1 & #2 on TET's website (http://www.traditionecclesiasticaltailoring.com/Albs-Surplices.html).

Currently shown as costing $445 each if you buy through TET. Actual Manufacturer: Barbiconi - www.barbiconi.it. Select your country. Click on "Clerical Catalog"; hover over "Religious Vestments" and click on "Rochets".

BOTH of these items are on this page - items 2112-R-MC and 2167-R-MC (and cost, as of 12/4/17, €270.49 each (conversion is to $321 as of 12/4/17). So that's more than $120 marked up. Other companies to check out: Gammarelli - http://gammarelli.com/ing/contatti.aspx?lingua=EN - (they typically respond within 24 hours on all email inquiries). They deal with orders exclusively via email.

But I can tell you that the fiochi fascia start at € 95.00 depending on material and color). They carry so much more than what is listed on their website. I've made inquiries and they sell practically EVERYTHING. Just describe what you are looking for, maybe attach a picture, and they will let you know if they carry it or can make it.

Ecclesia Web - www.ecclesiaweb.com (Every rope cincture on TET is listed on this website - http://ecclesiaweb.com/categoria-4009-CINGOLI.html). In order to see the prices, you will need to register with the website, and be able to translate from Italian). And the list goes on.

If you want to get the goods without paying a middleman, all it takes is a little time and patience. Check out the above three companies as well as Serpone, Bianchetti, Holy Art, & Euroclero, and you will find just about everything you could want for traditional Clerical clothing and supplies.

Yes, Tradition became infamous for stealing images of products by other firms, Barbiconi, Gamarelli, Granda, etc., slapping on their logo and presenting them as their own work. Apparently they only took the images down after they got legal threats. Dishonestly seems to be their hallmark.

Guest

That's not entirely true. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. The fabric and lace are purchased from vendors.

You'll have companies like Barbiconi and Gamarelli that use the same fabric and lace. So naturally, products will look the same. That's not earth shattering news. The fact TET doesn't make their own basic stock items like cinctures and fringe for fascias etc.

is also pretty common sensical. TET orders them from companies but makes the rest of the item themselves. The chief difference is how the items are made and the quality of linen used by the companies. In reality, TET corrects a lot of Barbiconi and Gamarelli items because either the seams are done incorrectly or the item is poorly constructed overall. They do a lot of the work by hand.

The others do it by machine which is why they end up with so many issues. They have a working relationship with both companies. The price disparity mentioned by the reviewer is virtually non-existent, because the reviewer assumes all companies use the same linen. Not all linen is created equal and, notice the comparison photo on the right doesn't stipulate the material. Very few people order linen albs or surplices anymore because of its proclivity to wrinkle.

Most items on the competitor’s site are going to be made of some sort of polyester and therefore cheaper. TET can make polyester items but they assume people are mostly interested in natural fabrics as a general rule.I have several items made by TET and they are far superior than anything I’ve received from Barbiconi or Gamarelli.

That's rich! saying that two of the world's most recognized vestment makers such as Gamarelli or Barbiconi are cheper because they use polyester, can't sew or are badly constructed is just ridiculous.

It is so much so if you compare it with the amateurish sewing offered by TET, with puckering seams and sagging lining, cheap embroidery, saying that TET "corrects" issues... this is ridiculous.

Guest

You have no idea what your taking about. I ordered surplice number 1 and he actually made it while I was in town, how do you explain that?

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1408549

Did you actually watch him make it?

Because unless you actually saw him make it, then it's entirely possible that he could have paid the 270 Euro (that's $331) for it from Barbiconi, paid for a quick shipping method (right be roughly $50) which would put the tab at $381 ($64 under his price of $445) and once you take care of taxes/tariff (maybe $20) which then makes it about $44 profit from my calculation.

Which means you still could have paid less for the item even if he actually made it. So it appears that you were ripped off, mate.

He's right! I contacted Gammarelli about a cincture (Tradition Ecclesiastical Tailoring calls it cincture #29 and #30).

Gammarelli charges €17 for each (just over $20) which is INCREDIBLY REASONABLE for these. Tradition Ecclesiastical Tailoring is charging $32 for each.

Needless to say, I bought from the Papal Tailor. At least I know I can trust them!

Yes, he began to cut the linen while I was there abd after I went to lunch and came back the sleeves were being sewn.

Tradition Ecclesiastical Tailoring - Cotta

I am sad to see bad reviews which i think the company doesn't deserve. Based on our personal experience Juan owner Traditional Ecclesiastical Tailoring is so kind and very approachable he will give you a quick response as much as he can but sometimes he might miss your message since he is a busy person filling up all the orders.

But our orders did make it on the promised date. He also do things quick as long as he has the supply... he also have a reasonable and fair pricing for his product.

I will surely be back and continue to prder stuffs from him. (Below is the Marian Cotta he made for me)

Tradition Ecclesiastical Tailoring - Excellent quality and attentive customer service

I had an exceptional experience with Tradition. I was cautious first due to prior negative reviews.

I emailed Tradition and I spoke to Juan. He assured me of a smooth transaction. I placed my order with him. Customer service was excellent at all stages of the transaction.

I needed the chalice by a given date and it arrived ahead of schedule. The chalice is amazingly beautiful, and even better than the photos.

Juan was readily available throughout and he was extremely accommodating on my payment. I highly recommend tradition and will continue to purchase items from him in the future.

Update review to - Tradition Ecclesiastical Tailoring - He stole $500 from my mother

Well, I dont suppose this will do a ton of good because I made the previous review anonymously (the previous review was: https://tradition-ecclesiastical-tailoring.pissedconsumer.com/he-stole-500-from-my-mother-201705****50026.html?color&utm_expid=.DIzTMCLeQgGsJtQAtppOFQ.2&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Ftradition-ecclesiastical-tailoring.pissedconsumer.com%2F ) Feel free to contact me on Facebook though. Maybe I can send you pictures of his work.

Anyways, I did end up contacting Juan while I was at IPF in Omaha, Nebraska. Turns out he is actually turning around! Juan not only gave me my money back, but also a reasonable amount of store credit. He was very kind, and even was able to hand deliver one of my items.

When it didn't quite fit the way I expected, he took it back and made the appropriate alterations. I was surprised at how much of a stand up guy he actually is. He explained that he had a large amount of money stolen from him from some protestant group. He was unable to contact them because they wouldn't respond, and they dont have any bishop over them (funny how that works, right?).

Anyways, he admits he should have stoped taing orders, but didn't for whatever reason. Was it an annoying experience to find out that my poor mother had money taken from her? Yeah BUT Juan has certainly made up for it. His products are good quality, and he delivers on time.

Furthermore, he has certainly made reperation for taking the money. Hopefully, he will continue to provide good service.

I see no reason to doubt that he will. Pax Christi, -Kevin Lukowksi

He owes my cousin thousands of dollars, he took money from fellow band members and didn't deliver. I recently received a story about a chalice not being delivered but paid for. He asked me to give him the names of all the people he stole from to make reparations, I started with my cousins name and never heard from him again.

Outstanding Quality and Service

Tradition Ecclesiastical Tailoring - Outstanding Quality and Service
Tradition Ecclesiastical Tailoring - Outstanding Quality and Service - Image 2

I am puzzled by the negative reviews on this site for this vestment supplier. I have ordered many products from TRADITION ECCLESIASTICAL VESTMENTS since 2013 - these include a biretta, a straw saturno, 5 silk and metal cinctures, a faschia (with tassel not fringe) and a restored cotta, all of which were beautiful and arrived when promised.

Several other Roman Catholic priests in our prelature ( the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter) have also ordered from them (and our Bishop has, too) In addition to our own priests, I know other priests in the FSSP who have ordered from them as well.

It's very hard to find quality purveyors of traditional vesture and liturgical items in this country (most of the time we traditionalists have to go on eBay to find what we need for our masses) and this firm has been a true asset to our church. Fast, fair and fabulous quality - I give them a 5 star (or 5 biretta!) rating!

I've had an excellent shopping experience with Tradition Ecclesiastical Tailoring. The cloth roman collar is a top quality product, no doubt about it. It is very well tailored, beautiful and very comfortable to wear. Juan was very responsive and helpful with my questions about sizing and care. The delivery was fast and efficient, the product well-packaged for international delivery. Given this initial experience with purchasing from Tradition Ecclesiastical Tailoring, I look forward to purchasing other products in the future. Given this experience I have difficulty understanding the negative comments I have been reading online. It seems that TET has greatly improved its service since these comments were posted.

He stole $500 from my mother

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My mother bought me a surplice as a surprise gift from his website. When I read the reviews and realized it was a scam I told her to cancel the order. She did, but he never refunded her order. She called him over several months but he never replied. Eventually she just gave up and cut her losses. DONT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU! This guys is a total scam artist preying on the traditional population in the Church! I've heard from guys that have actually met him that he is very kind and nice, but it's a complete facade! He's a total wolf in sheeps clothing. Someday he's going to get what he deserves.

Oh yes. This sounds just like my experience.

He seems to be very inconsistent with his service. I'm sure he's helped quite a few people and had good transactions, but he does not have a good track record. I ordered a cassock from him. I still have the emails.

I paid ~$300. He even came in to measure me at the seminary, and was in fact, just as the other reviews say, a very cordial man. A few weeks later, I emailed him to get news on my cassock status. He said it would be done 'soon'.

A month passed, and he never got back to me again. He never delivered it. I called; he never answered. This was as frustrating as you can imagine.

I will never trust this man with business again, and I will continue to spread this experience to others, just to make sure they know his history. If you've received the good end of his business, you're fortunate.

Perhaps he's fixed his terrible business practices. I'm sure he's a good man, but the way he ran his business when I ordered from him was unethical and unacceptable.

I even notified Pay Pal. He comes off as genuine, ask some of his fellow seminarians how even took their money.
